FOREIGN LANGUAGE



FRENCH I
Grades 9, 10, 11, 12
One Credit/Full Year Course
Prerequisite: Minimum of 77% in English, Placement Test, and teacher recommendation

The goal of French I is to acquaint the student with basic French vocabulary and grammar, oral communication and culture through the four basic skills of listening, speaking, reading, and writing.

FRENCH II
Grades 10, 11, 12
One Credit/Full Year Course
Prerequisite: Minimum of 77% in French I and teacher recommendation

The goal of French II is to continue what was begun at level I, emphasizing increased facility in speaking, reading, and writing. Knowledge of vocabulary is increased, as well as the mastery of grammatical and cultural aspects.

FRENCH III (Honors)
Grades 11, 12
One Credit/Full Year Course
Prerequisite: Minimum of 85% or above in French II and teacher recommendation

The French III course is offered to students interested in pursuing greater fluency in reading, writing, speaking, and understanding the French language. The study of grammatical structures is continued and expanded, along with various areas of French culture.

FRENCH IV (Honors)
Grades 12
One Credit/Full Year Course
Prerequisite: Minimum of 85% in French III and teacher recommendation

This course reviews and continues the study of grammatical structures and aims toward greater proficiency in understanding and using the French language. A survey of French history, art, and literature is offered. Literary works are read and discussed and Phonetics is continued.

SPANISH I
Grades 9, 10, 11, 12
One Credit/Full Year Course
Prerequisite: Minimum of 77% in English, Placement Test, and teacher recommendation

The Primary objective of Spanish I is to introduce the student to basic Spanish vocabulary and grammar, oral communication and culture through the four basic skills of listening, speaking, reading and writing.

SPANISH II
Grades 10, 11, 12
One Credit/Full Year Course
Prerequisite: Minimum of 77% in Spanish I and teacher recommendation

Spanish II continues the study of the Spanish language emphasizing increased facility in speaking, reading, and writing. It also emphasizes enlargement of vocabulary and the mastery of grammatical and cultural aspects.

SPANISH III (Honors)
Grades 11, 12
One Credit/Full Year Course
Prerequisite: Minimum of 85% in Spanish II and teacher recommendation

Spanish III is offered to students interested in pursuing greater fluency in reading, writing, speaking, and understanding the Spanish language. This course also continues the study of grammar as well as the culture of the Spanish-speaking countries.

SPANISH IV (Honors)
Grades 11, 12
One Credit/Full Year Course
Prerequisite: Minimum of 85% in Spanish III and teacher recommendation

The Spanish IV course reviews all grammatical structures and works toward a greater proficiency in using the Spanish language. A foundation in Spanish literature is established through the reading and discussion of famous literary works.
