Dr. Amy Coakley Dugan Memorial Scholarship

The Dr. Amy Coakley Dugan Memorial Scholarship was established by her husband, Dirk Dugan, Class of 1983, to honor her memory and her love of learning. The scholarship awards $1,000 annually to a graduating senior from CCHS.
Dr. Amy L. Coakley Dugan was the wife of Dirk Daniel Dugan, longtime teacher, and coach in the Southwest Local School district in Harrison Ohio. She is the mother of Dirk Damian Dugan, a William Henry Harrison High School 2009 graduate.

Amy spent her lifetime studying in the fields of dentistry and medicine. After graduating from Badin H.S. in Hamilton, Ohio in 1984 she went to Sinclair Community College to become a hygienist. Later she attended the University of Dayton, Wright State University and completed her Ph.D. at the University of Cincinnati in 2003 in the field of Human Anatomy and Physiology. Amy worked in a research lab and led studies at the Shriner’s Burns Institute of Cincinnati in her own lab for ten years. She has many publications in Science magazines and multiple awards in the field of Science. Her final adventure was as a college professor at various colleges of nursing, her last being Hondros Nursing College in Fairborn, Ohio.

Amy was a true scientist, thinking outside of the box and studying the most recent scientific research in her field. She would be proud to help others who aspire to be lifetime learners and those who plan to make an impact in the fields of dentistry or medicine.
